District
8 RTO/ERO encompasses the geographical area of the County of Middlesex
including the City of London. As members of RTO/ERO, we are truly
proud of the diverse nature of our urban and rural communities.
Provincially,
RTO/ERO has 65,000 members. Programs and services provided include:
Health Services and Insurance; Pension and Retirement concerns;
Political Advocacy; Goodwill, Recruitment and Retirement Planning
Workshops; Provincial website and newsletter “Renaissance”;
and Project – Service to Others by funding community projects
and scholarships.
District
8 has over 2400 members. Retired teachers who are not members
of District 8 are welcome to join this vibrant organization of
volunteers.
Included
in membership in RTO/ERO are the programs and services offered
by the District, namely:
•Pension
protection
•Communications through the District newsletter, "News
at 8"
•Political Advocacy on issues affecting our members and
seniors
•Social events such as our May Banquet, the "To Hell
With the Bell Luncheon", the Annual Meeting of the District
held in October and the November Poinsettia Luncheon
•Recreational activities offered include Bridge, Bowling,
Hiking, Book Discussion Groups, Golf Tournament
•Travel opportunities
•Provincially sponsored Service to Others Community projects
•Service-to-Others provincial scholarships
•District 8 award program for graduates of the U.W.O Faculty
of Education , who graduated from a secondary school within
the City of London or the County of Middlesex, administered
by the Thames Valley District School Board or the London District
Catholic School Board.
